My professor wanted us to type up an education philosophy, then at the end of the semester she wanted us to type up a new and improved one.
I felt like it was a good assignment because it really emphasizes why I want to teach and what my future students will get out of my classroom. It's also important to know what is important to me in managing a good developmentally appropriate classroom.
